Bonnie Galloway ist eine wahre Hymne an die Schönheit und Erhabenheit des schottischen Südwestens nördlich des Solway Firth. Aus Galloway stammen der ehemalige Formel-1-Rennfahrer David Coulthard, der "Outlander"-Hauptdarsteller Sam Heughan und das robuste, für die ganzjährige Freilandhaltung geeignete Galloway-Rind (Produkte bei uns in Schaffhausen im Hof Dreieichen erhältlich).

Die bekannteste und erfolgreichste Version von Bonnie Galloway ist der Folksong von Jean Redpath (1937 - 2014) aus dem Jahr 1973 mit obigem Text. Sie war als Sängerin, Musikerin und Musiklehrerin bekannt und galt als wichtigste Interpretin von schottischem Liedgut in der Tradition von Robert Burns mit Auftritten in der ganzen angelsächsischen Welt.
Als Pipe Tune ins Bonnie Galloway ein beliebter und unkomplizierter 4/4-Standardmarsch und gehört ins Standardrepertoir jedes Pipers.
